  1. Sonnet by Josh (aka the soothsayer)

    Julius Caesar, oh how naive
Not to trust the signs or warnings
    So foolish to believe
That you will live past thy morning

Of March 15, having no clue
    about Brutus and the Conspirators
Last words were "Even you Brutus, Even you"
Finding that your angel was a backstabber

Then Anthony comes to your aid
A plan to get back at them
Good thing, the people going back and forth on a decision to be made
Mixed up, one minute Brutus the next him

And you never listen to dear old soothsayer
Now i got a date with your wife, so i will see you later

  2. In the dead of thy night
    I shut my eyes not
I cannot sleep nice and tight
For evil spirits are roaming and what not
Bad omen in which you cannot fight
    What shall this night bring?
Outside I hear a group of men
    "Ceaser shall not be king!"
    Subtract two from ten
Cassius, Casca, Decius Brutus, Cinna, Metellus, Trebonius, Cimber
At my house arrived these eight men
Death was heading for my near future
But i thought it was for the good of Rome

  3. Songs

Scene 1 -"Be Prepared" from the Lion King

Cassius is gathering and convincing his conspirators to kill the king... just like Scar did to Mufasa in the Lion King...

Scene 2 - "Falling into the Black" by Skillet

Brutus is having conflicted feelings on whether he should join the conspiracy of killing Caesar, but later he agrees. Portia is worried about him but he doesn't tell her what he feels. Same with Caesar's wife,Calpurnia, who is worried he might die; due to a dream she had. Calpurnia warns him not to leave the safety of their house but he doesn't listen anyway. Situations for the couples are falling into the darkness.

Scene 3 - "Requiem for a Dream" by Clint Mansell

When the conspirators murder Caesar, I imagine it to be a dramatic scene. And then the speaking at the funeral with Brutus would also be tense. But Antony's speech would rile the crowd against Brutus and break Rome into chaos. Revolting against the "honorable" men.

Scene 4 - "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay

Rome is spiraling out of control as they search for Brutus and Cassius. The common people even go as far as killing Cinna, the poet, not the conspirator. The madness has begun to tear Brutus's and Cassius's "friendship" apart as they start to disagree and insult each other. Brutus was trying to help the people of Rome but unfortunately caused turmoil. So much for "honorable" man.

Scene 5 -"Unstoppable" by E.S. Posthumus

It's a battle scene at the end of the story with Cassius and Brutus killing themselves. This would be their battle music and intense ending.

  4. Song 1: Act 1:

The Danse Macabre; Camille Saint Saens

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyknBTm_YyM

Within the first two to three minutes of this song by Saint Saens, it evolves from a simple and quiet tune to a booming melody. (The climax is around 5:00) In Act 1, Scene 3, Cassius is calling a group for a plot to kill the king. The slow beginning of the piece symbolizes the beginning of Julius Caesar, introduction of all the characters, as the acceleration represents our exposure to Cassius' dark ways.

    Song 2: Act 2:

La Valse d'Amelie (Orchestral Version); Yann Tiersen

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gdOK2jLZB4

This is such an interesting song. Act II is full of conflicting thoughts, with Brutus battling his inner contradictions (kill Caesar, not kill Caesar), and Caplhurnia being frightened in her sleep by the dreams of Caesar's murder. The intricate parts placed on top of one another collaborate to form a hauntingly beautiful song. I didn't want to pick too overpowering a song, for I wanted my choice to, in a way, emulate the omens Caplhurnia was receiving. (which I interpreted as being ghostly and complicated.)

    Song 3: Act 3:

Borodin Quartet No. 2; Alexander Borodin

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ3z83QxFrg

I have played this quartet before, and the highs of the song are breathtaking. Caesar’s death scene I envisioned to be emotional and have a subtle intensity, which is the reason I selected this intimate quartet. It is in Act 3 that Antony makes his speech at Caesar’s funeral, a friendly ode to Caesar. Antony was unflaggingly loyal to his friend Caesar. In a sense, Antony could be thought of as the viola or cello in this quartet: the ongoing motor behind all of the commotion of the siren-like violins. (Which could be Cassius and Brutus, the conspirators.)

    Song 4: Act 4:

    Scheherazade; Rimsky- Koraskov

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xky-7ZEYpz8

Brutus is very troubled throughout Act 4. He is strangled with the guilt of killing his best friend. In my song selection, Scheherazade, the weeping violin symbolizes Brutus’ doubts and worries. Overall, the song is dynamically contrasting and is one with the moods of the characters of Act 4. The lyrical yet discordant phrases of this song illustrate the many characters in distress.

    Song 5: Act 5:

Beethoven Symphony No. 7, II; Ludwig Van Beethoven

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uOxOgm5jQ4

Both Cassius and Brutus take their own lives in Act 5. It being such a pivotal moment of the play, I chose a very dramatic song. Beethoven 7, mvmt 2 is one of my favorite movements of any composer, and I believe it is perfect with this act. The intensity of both suicides is undeniable. The beginning of the piece is somewhat eerie to represent Brutus’ hallucinations of Caesar’s ghost preceding his death, and the roaring ending exemplifies Brutus’ fierce run to the sword that killed him.

I chose I will not bow by Breaking Benjamin because this song to me is about rebellion. This to me sums up the whole first act. In act I it starts with Flavius and Marullus removing Caesar’s trophies and driving away citizens that favor and bow down to him. It ends with Cassius preparing to kill Caesar by convincing Casca to help him.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7_XbHFs_w0
For Act II The Line Begins to Blur by Nine inch nails really captures Brutus’s inner battle with himself. The first line of the song states “There are things that I said I would never do,” and Brutus more than likely never thought he would help with the murder of his leader. Later in the song the singer tells about how he is not sure what to feel or think and the line between logic and emotion blurs.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTGI3HtKewQ
The song Anything by an Endless Sporadic starts with intense bass and guitar which in relation to Julius Caesar represents the worry and anxiety from the previous ac t (Act II).In which Calpurnia tries to stop Caesar from going out. The little peaceful pause after the chaotic line of music is the reassurance Caesar feels after being told that Calpurnia’s dream was not of death but good fortune. Though all too soon the chaos returns. This portion of the instrumental represents Caesar’s death in act III and the adrenaline running through the veins of the killers. After the intensity of the instruments comes another pause, but this time it’s sorrowful; representing the sadness of the people due to Caesar’s death. Eventually the aggressive riffs come back just like the citizens of Rome who start a riot at the end and want to kill the conspirators.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETJ5cdDBoaE&feature=related
For Act IV I just choose a simple eerie piano instrumental for the highlight of the act. The Caesar ghost scene.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0M5D5OA-d4
For the war scene of the final act, I chose the song Going Down by the Sick Puppies. Its moving bass line builds up the anticipation of war which complemented Brutus’s “if we live or die” talk with Cassius.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AWbgkRpYwc
In the End by Linkin Park is about defeat and failure. The music has a minor tonality which made me think about the death of Brutus, Cassius, Caesar, and Titinius. Brutus and Cassius went through all the trouble to kill Caesar to help Rome and be free but they never were. They ended up dying and taking others down with them. The main lyric in this song is “In the end it doesn’t even matter,” and that holds true for Brutus and Cassius in Act V.

  8. Warned you I did and ask you I did beg,

"Do not go to the Senate, stay here with me.

Say you are sick and are in need of bed."

But I was ignored and you turned to leave.

My dreams foretold of a horrific death

My Lord, a death that was your soon to be.

Went you to the Senate, to breathe your last breath

At the hands of men you saw at your feet.

So now you reside with Pluto and his dead

And have left me here alone with this dread.

  9. Act 1: Born in the U.S.A, Bruce Springsteen.
When Cassius is talking to Brutus, he repeatedly tells Brutus to be a ROMAN. Bruce Springsteen sings about the hypocrisy of Americans and how proud they are, even when they do horrible things. If Brutus were to kill Caesar so he could be considered a ROMAN, then that aligns with Springsteens opinions of what America did to it's youth during the Vietnam War for the sake of being AMERICAN.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLCwlhspmHQ

    Act 2: King of Anything
I feel this song identifies with Portia's feelings when Brutus is being stupid and not telling her anything. While this song is mostly about a control issue (I think) and not a sexism issue, I think it still applies. Portia is saying "Why do you think you're so good, are you underestimating my intellect or strength? Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I can't take bad news." Brutus is disrespecting her by not treating her as an equaal, he's taking not a husbandly stance, but a kingly stance.

  10. CONTINUED
Act 3: My Old Friend, Tim Mcgraw
I thought it was ironic. Anyways, this Act contains Caesar's death and funeral, and this song talks about a guy who's friend died, and he misses him. I feel like these coordinate at least a little with Brutus's feelings; he had to be missing Caesar and remembering all the good times they had. "My Old Friend, I apologize.." is what Tim says, and Brutus apologizes to the public as well, saying that they can kill him if they want, they can do unto him as he did to Caesar.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR1tGp5EJVY

Act 4: Like We Never Loved At All, Faith Hill
During this act Brutus is wondering why Cassius is being so cold. He knows Cassius isn't being rude to him, but to everyone to. He accuses Cassius of foul dealings, and Cassius turns on him, telling him a kind eye would pass those over. They're kind of breaking up. This song is (obviously) about a woman who is wondering how her ex could be so cold, how he could find other love so quickly, as though they never loved at all. Or killed someone together.

5: If I Die Young, The Band Perry
In Act 5 both Cassius and Brutus die. Their last remarks are similar, they're both stating that now Caesar can be satisfied, they're statements are somewhat ironic as well. Brutus says that he's killed himself with twice as much goodwill as he killed Caesar, and Cassius remarks that the sword that killed Caesar has now killed him. "The sharp knife of a short life, well I’ve had just enough time." Brutus and Cassius both had enough time to kill Caesar and start a war. Another lyric that I can compare to Act 5 is "And maybe then you’ll hear the words I've been singin, funny when you're dead how people start listenin'." All Brutus was trying to do was what was best for Rome, albeit in a bloody manner, but no one recognized that until he was dead, when he was proclaimed the most noble roman of all.

  12. Act 1- Who will guard the Guardians by Underoath

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvKLyLgzUIk

This song really sums up the first act.
"Revolt, Revolt, We stood by defeat for so long, so long." They were planning to revolt, is there anything better?

Act 2- Vermillion Pt.2 by Slipknot

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rY2mOXnti0

I have other songs for this act, but I'll talk about them later. This acoustic piece by Slipknot delves into the feelings that Portia describes to Brutus, that she misses him, even though they're "together."
"I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do, when she makes me sad. But I won't let this build up inside of me."

Act 3- You Should've Killed Me When you had the Chance by A Day To Remember

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn5n_Knbj_I

Besides the fact that he DID kill him when he had the chance, this song perfectly describes Act 3.
"So I say goodbye to a town that has ears to die
I can hear you whispering as I walk by
Familiar faces smiling back at me and I knew
    This would make them change
The only thing that's going to bother me
Is that you'll all call yourselves my friends
Why can't you look me in the eyes one last time?"
If you only listen to one of my songs, make it this one. You call all yourselves my friends, and you stab me in the back? I would almost swear ADTR wrote this song about Caesar.

Act 4- Slip to The Void by Alter Bridge

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PABO3RC2c7k

This song describes what Brutus was going through emotionally after killing Caesar.
"You fear what you've become, my God, what have you done? You don't belong here."
Besides the fact that this song is a break from all the metalcore I've been throwing at you, this song really shows the hole that Brutus has been digging for himself, not just with people, but in his own conscience.

Act 5- You Already Know What You Are by A Day to Remember

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEjV8Jh66es

This fairly heavy song reflects the violent end to this play.
"You can't trust everyone you meet, they won't amount to anything."
Brutus find that not everyone is trust worthy, and pays with his life.

  13. Act 1:
Just Around the Riverbend from Pocahontas
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DE5a80I8EU

I chose this song because it is all about making decisions. Brutus has to decide to either let Caesar live, or join Cassius and kill him. He decides to take the hard road and kill him, just like Pocahontas takes the hard riverbend. The mood is rather dark and upsetting because you know that Brutus is making a bad choice.

    Act2:
You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DSYZAiM-20

Portia is upset that Brutus won't tell her what he is doing and what's going on. She feels that he's treating her like that because she's a woman. He makes her feel like a woman, just like the title of the song says. The difference is that Aretha talks about the benefits of a woman, while Portia doesn't like being treated as a woman. However, the moods in the two works are very similar. The mood is dreary and painful because Portia knows something is being kept from her.

    Act 3:
Up, Up, and Away by The 5th Dimension
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC9yD8YqXYI

The song is about going up and away, just like Caesar goes up and away when he is killed. Caesar accepts that he is dying. The fact that Caesar accepts death makes him go up and away instead of down and under. The mood of the act is depressing because Caesar dies, but then the spirit lifts up knowing the fact that Caesar has a change of heart and accepts his death.

    Act 4:
    Teacher's Argument from Fame
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4761JzIa6U4

Brutus and Cassius are having a huge argument just like Miss Bell and Miss Sherman. The mood is depressing and sad knowing that two friends are arguing and end up ending their friendship.

    Act 5:
Death and Destruction by New Riders of the Purple Savage
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnCTuKr4CEY

The entire last act is about death and destruction. People are dying and arguing about everything. This song envelopes everything that happens in this act. It explains the sadness and dreariness happening in the play.

    Your clogged ears blind you
    As your life dwindles near
    You couldn’t see the clue
Perhaps this age is now fine
Until a chap named Brutus tries to rule
You can’t stop him, your dead remember?
    But Antony went to school
    He knows the textbook code
For what must be done to those who stench
    We take their necks
And tie them with a tight winch
Oh sad Ceasar, if only you could see this now

Planned your ending in front of your eyes
But now your able to hide
Perhaps it was for the best
    No longer having to deal
Now you can shut your weary eyes

  17. Act 1 – Despicable Me
This song represents the conspirators and Cassius. Cassius wants Caesar out of the picture completely. It has nothing to do with honor.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axbUCR1nKRA
Act 2 – The Middle (Jimmy Eat World)
This represents the difficult decision that Brutus must make. Whether he should kill his best friend for the “sake of Rome” or let him live and rule.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4QP5jsrAaA
Act 3 – Beethoven 5th Symphony (Ludwig Von Beethoven)
This epic piece gives the necessary dynamics for Caesar’s death. I have only chosen the first movement of the piece because the whole symphony is much too long for just one act.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4IRMYuE1hI
Act 4 – Fell Down a Hole (Wolf Mother)
This represents backstabbing Antony and the other men who decide to pursue Brutus. Brutus is dealt a very unfair hand the entire play and ends up the victim of manipulation.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBGhmWkFTjw
Act 5- Little Wonders (Rob Thomas)
This story is a tragedy and tragedies almost always end in tears. This song accurately portrays Caesar’s death, Brutus’s down fall and the overall sadness of this story.

  18. Act 1: "Limelight" by Rush
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwXjnVICb3I

The song lyrically describes how being in the limelight (on stage) all the time can be difficult, which mirrors the inner conflicts that Brutus faces as being regarded as a leader.

Act 2: "Rebellion (Lies)" by Aracde Fire
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_aFmziaRdU

A lyric in this song that catches my attention is "people say that your dreams / are the only things that save ya." It describes perfectly how Calpurnia's dreams foreshadowed Caesar's later death. Ironically, the dream could've been the "only thing to save him."

Act 3: "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Alice Cooper
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0YrXjeRSoE

In a way, Brutus screams "No More Mr. Nice Guy!" in this act by pulling through his decision to kill his best friend for the good of his people. The proceeding discontent by the people is seen in the song lyric "I got no friends 'cause they read the papers."

Act 4: "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfuWXRZe9yA

I find that this song captures the mood of this act very well. It captures the gloomy feeling that is felt as Brutus and Cassius begin to fight.

Act 5: "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZCyOWLrRTE

The title says it all, basically. This is quite a dynamic song that does a good job depicting musically (and lyrically at times) what happens in act 5, from the raging battles to the suicide of Brutus himself.

Act 2: "Talkin' To Myself" By Eminem

Act 3: "Never Take Friendship Personal" by Anberlin

  20. Act 1
    “Come Together” The Beatles
Caesar comes back to Rome and all the Romans believe he is a hero. However, Cassius, Casca, and the other conspirators believe he is not hand plan his murder. They believe that he is not fit to lead Rome and that he is incapable if doing so. Caesar is getting all this attention and becomes very self-confident. “Got to be a joker he just do what he please” Caesar even ignores the warning from the soothsayer. The conspirators and Cassius and Casca are “coming together” to murder Caesar and will ask Brutus for help.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8LZGQ4MkvQ

    Act 2
    “Breakable” Ingrid Michealson
Portia is very worried about her husband Brutus. She sees that something is troubling him and he wont tell her what it is. She keeps asking him but he tells her she will find out soon. He does not want to tell her for fear of what she will think of him when he tells her that he is going to kill his best friend because he himself is not so sure of what he thinks about it. Portia gets so worried and cant take it anymore and ends up killing herself. “And we are so fragile, And our cracking bones make noise, And we are just, Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.” Portia is fragile and she broke because of what was happening between her and Brutus.

    Act 3
    “Silence” Selena Cross
Caesar gets brutally murdered, but he accepts that it has happened. He is killed by his best friend Brutus and his last words were, “Et tu, Brute?- Then Caesar fall.” If his own BEST friend thinks he deserves to die then it must be so. “At last I have clarity. I learned to let go. In silence.” Cross sings but I feel as thought it could be Caesar. He will go down quietly because he knows that must be his downfall if Brutus also thinks he should die.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTmmSDule6c

    Act 4
    “Take Everything” Greg Laswell
Cassius is being rude and mean to everyone even Brutus who thought they were friends now because Brutus helped him kill his own BEST friend, Caesar. Brutus is having a hard time with his guilt and wishes he had not stabbed Caesar. Brutus talks to Cassius about how he is treating him and that he is just walking all over him after what he did as though he was nothing. “Your lies were always clear, But I don't mind No I don't mind. I don't mind. Go on and take everything from me and more” I see Brutus saying this about Cassius because he is like look what you have taken from me and made me do and you don’t even care, I should have seen this coming, you could do more still, and you know what Cassius I don’t mind because I know what I have to do.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC4OViTTA0Y

    Act 5
    “Hurtful” Erik Hassle
Brutus is still going through the pain of loosing Caesar. He is having hallucinations of Caesars ghost. He accepted that his downfall was killing Caesar so Brutus commits suicide. So does Cassius but I fell as though this song is coming from Brutus’s perspective. “You don't know what you got till you're missing it a lot. I had to go throw it away. I was wrong from the start from the bottom of my heart I apologize. What I did to you was hurtful. What I'm going through is hurtful.” Brutus didn’t realize he would miss his best friend so much and that he shouldn’t have killed him. He was wrong for doing so and hes so sorry and that he was wrong and what he did was bad and not like a friend and it was painful for Caesar and living with this is painful for him so he is going to take his own life because he can t deal with it anymore.

  23. Caesar's sonnet
    By Reggie Hemphill
There was a time where I once ruled the world.
It all existed in the palm of my hand.
The world I had was like a beautiful pearl,
but then that pearl turned to sand.
There was a group of passionate traitors,
    whose methods made them ruthless.
What i couldn't believe was that out of these fakers
    stood my closest friend, Brutus.
In the end, I was slain
and all of the town ran amuck
It's funny, even the traitors' fates were the same.
Even they ran into bad luck.
The sad how the conspirators thought that when they killed me, the were winning.
The real problem is that the conspirators were doomed all from the very beginning.

  24. Act 1:
    New Medicine- The Takeover
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqnyee92uIo

This song in my opinion is a great song to represent the mood when Caesar gets back from Pompey. The title its self decribes the attitude of Caesar when he conquered Pompey, "im going to take this over!" One of Caesar's famous quotes is " Veni, Vidi, Vici" meaning "i came, i saw, i conquered". In addition to that i thing the song even without the lyrics captures the mood of the people and all of their hype.

The Hives -I Hate To Say I Told You So
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCQ7VLoY7bQ
I beleive this song can represent the soothsayer when he tells caesar " beware the ides of march" Caesar decides not to listen to him and well... he dies. That is the ultimate "i told you..."
Panic at the Disco- Nine in the afternoon
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCto3PCn8wo
Hopefully most people already know this but there is no such thing as nine in the after noon which makes the song an odd song, setting the mood for all of the very strange things people have been seeing around town. I think the song fits even more because the name of its album is " Pretty Odd." which is the shortest discription of the "signs" people are seeing. If i asked someone the time and they said " oh, its nine in the afternoon" i would like i just lost my mind and i think this is exactly how these people in this scene feel."Looks like the end of history as we know, its just the end of the world..." Im sure Casca and Cicero could relate to these lyrics.

    Muse- Uprising
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8KQmps-Sog
Cassivs leads the uprising or resistance against Caesar and persuades other senators and people to join him

    Juanes- Mala Gente
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM1yOg1GhiY
this is supposed to represent the conspirators
bad people or poor people, the conspirtors are formed and plotting the assaination of caesar.

    Act 2:

    The Temper trap- Sweet Disposition
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4C8e7nNLZNs

    Katy Perry- Hot n' Cold
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X75mry1LcFg
Both of these songs are about being indecicive which is exactly what Brutus is being when he cant make the decision to kill his friend or do what he think is right for Rome. Although both of these songs are similar in meaning i think "sweet disposition" is more about the bitter-sweet feeling of the situation and "hot n' cold" is more about being annoyingly indecisive

I Don't Bite- We Are Scientists
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzJlLOnbf_M
This song represents the deceit and phony loyalty they show Caesar even though they are really conspiring to kill him. They tell him to ignore any warnings and tells him they can be fully tured.

    Wheesung -Insomnia
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkxVxZX1dKY
Caesar cant sleep because of his wifes nightmares. They calm Calpurnia down. She tells him that she sees so many signs and there he shouldnt leave. This is a sleepless night for everybody so i thought this song fit.

  25. U2- Sunday Bloody Sunday
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFM7Ty1EEvs
Calpurnia had a dream that was Caesar's statue bleeding and citizen happily bathing in it. This is what keeps him from going to the senate until he decides to finally go because they insist on giving the crown to him that day

    Act 3:
    O'jays-Backstabbers
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVC2j_Kdw8c
This is the most fitting song to this whole play some of the lyrics say " They smile in your face, all the time they wanna take your place, the backstabbers (backstabbers)." This decribes exactly what the conspirator do, they smile in Caesar's face but actually want to kill him out of jealousy, they want to take his place because they Backstabbers in the figure of speech way and in the literal meaning of being backstabbers.
    Lafee-Ring Frei
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AnF4KkrhxE
this is the part of the lyrics i thought fit the mood of the conspirators as they prepare and kill Caesar
    "You think you win
    Because you're too vain
    What you will never forget
    You think I'm weak
    Prefer to pass time"
The stabbing and dramatic kneeling moment i think are captured by this song that is basically saying if you mess with me you better be prepared for fight back.

Florence and the machine- You've got the love
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQZhN65vq9E
This expresses Portia's worry about him and about how she knows there is something wrong. You can tell she cares from her insisting.

    Hollywood Undead- Hear Me Now
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdoIs1jZbCY
I found it amusing that the band is called Hollywood undead and this song is representing the conspirators and the people in the resistance cry for change which causes them to kill Caesar.

Florence and the machine -Dog Days are Over
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWOyfLBYtuU
"And i never wanted anything from you except everything you had." I think this song applies to Antony's speak because he feel deep sorrow and cant show it and he never wanted anything from Caesar

    Act 4:
We Are Scientists- Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSrgJK1CCnA
The conspirators are kind of a hot mess. They are camped out trying to decide what to do, when to do it they seem almost at a paranoia. They are figuring out hwat to do as well as who to trust and they seem quite emotional. Octavious and Antony conversate over who they shall kill and they eventually decide the kill one hundred senators.
Bullet for my Valentine- Heats Burst into Fire
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n3cUPTKnl0
Potia's death, Brutus is sad so his heart is on fire in a way, It's on fire with agony and pain.
"it hurts, wound so sore, now im torn now im torn" this lyric from the song i think fits perfectly with the Brutus must be feeling. Potia dies by swallowing hot fiery coals which is her dying from burning or chocking rather on fire.

    Act 5:
    Atreyu- Cant Happen Here
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llVWFfXQjiE
I thought this song really captured the war that they go into. They go to war and this song has a very violent and thrusting sort of message.
" We get we take when we take nothing... we're erased and betrayed by mistakes" i think this captures and sets a theme to the story for a very exciting end. Caesar was in fact erased by his mistakes and was certainly betrayed which was a cause of his mistakes.

  26. Sonnet from the point of view of Antony:

Caesar, Brutus, and now me, too
All mixed up in this mess of power.
At first I thought, it could not be true,
That Caesar had seen his last hour.

I thought what the Soothsayer said was just some old rubbish magic,
But the Ides of March came to bloom, then wilt.
    Bloody, horrific and tragic,
It's true Caesar's blood has been spilt.

Their was weeping, cursing, and so much responsibility put to me,
And at last the funeral day came.
The whole of Rome was here to see,
As I said Brutus was to blame.

    All this conniving and strife,
I can't help but feel conflicted.
With each stab of that fatal knife,
Caused our city to be more and more afflicted.

Even now, as Brutus is slain, having died so gravely
He is by far the noblest Roman, acting always bravely.

    Act 3
    Dream Is Collapsing (Hans Zimmer)
As the Brutus chooses to betray Caesar the tension starts to build... Is there any other music more perfect than this that so fits the apprehension that takes place in this act? Can you imagine the murderers surrounding Caesar as the song begins, then at 1:34 Cassius gives the first blow. The only way to describe this scene is: Epic...

This song represents Act 1. From the beginning of the song, in my opinion, each phrase kind of answers each other. Just like the conspirators are talking back and forth plotting the plan to kill Caesar. It’s tune is really mysterious and fits this act the best.

    Elgar Cello Concerto
This is one of my favorite cello concertos...ever! Its really intense, not really fast but in the beauty of how its played. I think this song best describes Act 2 because of how upset Portia is when Brutus doesn’t tell her what has been concerning him.

    Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1
This song is very intense and I think it fits best with Act 3. While listening to it you really start to hear the craziness and chaos of the entire scene. You can definitely picture the conspirators and citizens pretending to be on Caesar’s side at first, but then you instantly can hear the loudness as they stab Caesar to death.

Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, Op. 47: Moderato
At the beginning of this song it is loud, crazy and out of control which represents Rome after Caesar has been killed. It also has some slow parts that represent Brutus’s emotion after he has just killed Caesar. I think this song represents act 4 really well.

Mahler Symphony No. 2 in C minor
I think song definitely describes the last scene when Cassius and Brutus kill themselves. I honestly don’t know how to explain how it represents act 5, but it just does. The song is full of exaggerated dynamics and it really adds to how the song is perceived.

The Hollies - Listen to Me

This song describes the Soothsayer's point of view. He told Caesar to be careful and practically that he was going to be murdered but Caesar ignored him. He continued on as the Mr. Know It All and this help predict the future.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go7WW2IQEqU

    Act 2
The Mighty Diamonds - Tell Me Whats Wrong

This song represents Portia and Brutus. Brutus is in this situation now and behaves in such a different way that Portia knows something is going on. She continuously asks him whats wrong and goes to extreme measures to get it out of him.

Wyclef Jean Ft. Mary J Blige - 911

I have no idea why this song comes to mind so quickly, but it did so here it is.
SOMEONE PLEASE CALL 911!!!! This describes the death of Caesar. Now no one called the authorities because cell phones weren't invented, but Antony did ask why did this have to be done. This was a tragedy and this song does bring that feel.

  33. Here is my first ever written sonnet, from the point of view of a widower, Calphurnia. She lost her husband, which who i assume she loved very much and no one can understand how badly she was hurt.

I laid my beloved to rest today,
    In his prime of life, he was too young to go;
I loved that man! Nothing that I say
Could ever hope to tell the grief I know.
It's like I've turned into an empty shell,
    There's emptiness, futility
    A solitary, lonely, hell.
He is gone, never coming back; not for eternity.
He was a king; the king of Rome
The best king, the best husband
Now I am all alone in my home.
I can never hold his arm, head, or hand.
Earth freshly turned, bird songs, the blooms of spring.

Caesar really should have listened to the Soothsayer. When Caesar ignored the soothsayer and died as a result, I would imagine the soothsayer to be kind of "I told you so.'

Act 2: We Will Rock You - Queen
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tJYN-eG1zk
When I think of act two, the conversation between Caesar's future murderers really stands out in my mind. They seem to really hate Caesar and would be completely fine with his death.
This song reminded me of their feeling of wanting to put Caesar "back in his place."

Act 3: Requiem for a Tower

This act seemed to be really dramatic, like this song. It started out with some suspense, but it was slow and still pretty calm. But then it became more and more dramatic and BAM. Both the act and the song are very intense.

    Act 4: Sorry - Buckcherry

While I dont really like this song, I think if fit pretty will for Act 4. Brutus seemed to be regretting killing his best friend and seemed sorry. His new "best friend" wasn't what he thought and he was missing Caesar more and more.

I chose this song for Act4 because its showing Brutus's saddness and how he misses his friend and also how he's guilty.

    Act5:You'll Find a Way- Santigold
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95Tjhy24DeU

I chose this song for Act 5 because not only is this song busy with various changing rythyms and beats its also describing how the people of Rome will find a way without Caeser, Brutus, and Cassius.

  46. Act 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8KQmps-Sog
    -Uprising, by Muse.
I choose this song for act one because this song is basically about the government and how they can't control us etc. and that's exactly what the conspirators are trying to convince to Brutus.

    Act 2: Shit song-Kate Nash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3kxQgC7uX

Portia feels like something is up with Brutus. And I feel the main chorus of this song goes along with the situation perfectly, "Darlin' don't give me shit, cause I know that you're full of it." Which is pretty much what Portia is saying.

    Act3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDWgsQhbaqU

Caesar dies, and is welcomed to the black parade of the dead.

Act 4: Mad World (Adam Lambert's version)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyyESHqT9a4

This song is about sorrow, and sadness, and that's what Brutus is feeling in this act. I just choose Adam's version cause I like him better(:

    Act 5: Animal- Neon Trees
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY--Yu4kzz0

Brutus and Antony start their war, and when war starts people turn into animals.

  47. Act 1: "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mut_jxG1Uhc

This song describes how Cassius won't stop at anything to kill Caesar. "A seven nation army couldn't hold me back" is how he is thinking.

Act 2: "This Is the End (For You My Friend)" by Anti-Flag
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oupAyTgR068

I picked this song mainly for the chorus. It is from Brutus' perspective after he decides to help Cassius kill Caesar.

Act 3: "Know Your Enemy" by Green Day
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrCDdm2yjXY

This song how the conspirators feel when they rise up against Caesar, and people have to pick sides in a way.

Act 4: "Epitaph" by King Crimson
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnQntM-rtDE

I feel like this song captures the mood of Act 4 perfectly. It is a gloomy song about death. The chorus, "Confusion will be my epitaph" describes the confusion Caesar feels when he is killed, and metaphorically what will be written on his tombstone. Just listen to the song with the play in your mind. It is very powerful.

Act 5: "21st Century Schiziod Man" by King Crimson
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7NjEpXmCE0

Although this song is about the troubles of the 21st century, it musically paints a picture of the craziness of war.

I chose this song because in Act 1 it starts mellow, and then slowly and carefully starts rising in action and turns into a real excitement...just like this song.
    Act 2

I chose this song because in Act 2 the whole plot is basically espionage acts. So what is a better song than the James Bond one?

Maroon 5 really capture the essence of losing love in this song. Basically in Act 3, there is a decimation of love through everyone which leads to many contradictories.
    Act 4

In "Nobody's Fault But Mine" Led Zeppelin talk about how its all about the guilt, and the acts that "they" did. Which was followed by amounts of guilt. After murdering Ceasar, Brutus is left with mountains of guilt
    Act 5

In Act 5, Brutus and Cassius were dancing with the devil, and basically "Knocking On Heavens Door". The song explains it all
